Today was the day that we model our accessories from the accessory swap held by Pam at Over Fifty Feeling Forty.... and I had the pleasure of swapping with the woman herself - The ever fabulous Pam!
This scarf is a silk scarf from Chico's and is basically a big panel and then ends. I played around with it a few different ways and at the last minute I decided to wear it as a little halter jacket. I LOVE how it turned out. I paired it with flats to keep it from looking TOO dressy and then I had the idea to pull out a vintage slip that I have never gotten to wear. To be honest, the skirt felt a bit short, especially for work. So adding the slip and having the lace come out from the bottom was a perfect solution!!! And now I'm getting even more ideas! Slips are so quintessentially feminine. Along with the bra, it's the one article of clothing that really has no male equivalent.
This morning my husband, upon seeing me all gussied up asked, "Where are you going? Why are you getting so dressed up to go to work? You look like your going to a cocktail party." Having given this some thought, I justified to myself, "Well, since I never really go to cocktail parties, why shouldn't I at least be able to dress for one!?" Oh, I've also found that when I wear a shorter skirt (well above the knee), I'm more comfortable in flats. Frankly I just feel a little hoochie in heels and short skirts. And since I'm not comfortable with it, I JUST can't pull it off! At least not in Small Town, NC!
This looks so much better on you than it ever did on me...I am so glad I sent it your way. Your husband is right YOU LOOK CLASSY AND FABULOUS!!! This was fun...thanks for being my partner and participating in the swap!! All day, I have seen fun looks!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous. I still cannot figure out just what you did with the scarf? It looks just like a jacket and a beautiful one.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the slip is just perfect under the skirt to add a bit of length and fun.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I think I have that belt, and I love how you styled it. I might have to give it a shot.
Really pretty! You did a great job styling the scarf. It just all looks so good together.
ReplyDeleteHow perfect that Pam sent you one of her fabulous Chico's finds. I love what you did with it. (But did it fall off all day when you walked around? That's what happens to me when I try to be creative! But who cares if it did? You look great).
ReplyDeleteso how did you did that with the scarf? Tutorial, please--it looks great! Oh and I think there is some rule about the shorter the skirt, the smaller the heeel. And I agree, I dont wear short skirts with high heels--and I wear a lot of short skirts!
ReplyDeleteThe scarf is fabulous! And you are the 2nd person lately I've seen wear a vintage black slip like this! I need one!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you rule.......That outfit is fantastic! The scarf is spectacular!
ReplyDeleteI love the scarf and how you've fixed it! Just recently I started buying slips--I don't wear them under dresses, but around the house in the evening, and DH loves it!
ReplyDeleteoh my .. I think I have the exact same belt! and mine was thrifted as well!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that long, super wide scarf!!!
