One outfit...10 Pair of shoes!

If you've been reading my blog for any time at all, you'll know of my devout fondness for shoes.  It's the first section I look at whether I'm shopping at a department store or trolling my favorite thrift haunts.  It would make life so much easier if I were one of those clever women who could wear the same shoes with everything and still look smashing!  Alas, I am not.  In my opinion, shoes have a way of transforming an entire look for good or bad.  So I thought I would show you how different shoes on the exact same outfit could make, break or bore a look.

1.

With Michael Kors clogs.....I kind of like this!  Keeps the look kind of casual.  I really like these clogs with black tights and skirts.  I used to ONLY wear clogs with trousers, but now I can see them with skirts, dresses and maybe a pair of skinny jeans.

 2.

With a Bandolino boot.  Okay, so not necessarily interesting, but it's definitely me.  Nice clean lines, if not a bit preppy.

3.

Franco Sarto sandals.  TOTALLY not feeling this look, but it does score points on the interesting factor.

4.

Nine West platform pumps.  I almost didn't put these on because I thought I wouldn't like the color with the printed top.  HOWEVER, I actually REALLY liked this!

5.

Vintage Together boots.  To be honest, these babies are going on eBay.  While I really do like them, I simply NEVER know what to wear them with and I really don't like wearing them with anything other than a really long skirt and I don't wear enough maxis to warrant keeping these.

6.

Vintage Apostrophe.  I've had these for 20 years and rarely wear them.  Again, I really don't do booties very well.  Patti  pulls them off with such aplomb, but I feel like a goober!

7.

Thrifted black leather pumps.  Nothing necessarily wrong with them in this look; but nothing really right either.  I think I'd prefer these with the black tights and a black skirt.

8.

Vintage Nine West boots.  This was a serendipitous pairing.  At the last minute, I saw these in the closet and thought, "Hmmmm, how bad would these be?" and then?  BABAM!  I really really like this!  It keeps the whole look much more casual and I like the contrast against the black tights.

9.

Jessica Simpson thigh high boots.  Can I just say.....YES!!!  Love this look!  I know, I know, it's another black boot, but the heel and the higher style just gives it a different and more edgy look than the Bandolino boots above.

10.

Same Jessica Simpson boots from above, but with them worn over the knee.  LOVE this look too!

So what do you think?  Out of all of the above, what's fabulous, what's boring, and what's hideous?!  I'd love to hear your opinions!

PS.  Which ones do you think I ended up wearing for the day?

  1. This is such a great post. Enjoyed seeing all the different looks. My fave looks are #9 the Jessica Simpson boots worn with the cuff and #1 the clogs for some reason. Funny how something as simple as a shoe can make, break or liven up a look.

  2. I'm thinking you might have picked the Michael Kors' clogs to wear. My second choice would be the Nine West Platform Pumps. I like all the others, except, like you, I'm not really feeling the booties.
This was a ot of fun!

    1. I almost picked the Michael Kors clogs, however, surprisingly, I picked the vintage Nine West boots! They just seemed to keep it so nice and casual and I was heading to Starbucks; so it was a perfect fit! I'm soooooo with you on the booties...I've completely given up on any kind of bootie! Except the pirate kind! LOL

I am really jealous that you can wear heels...I can only do it for about an hour,,,,but my favorite here are the over the knee boots...now I want some! You look so gorgeous in this outfit no matter what shoes you put with it!

    1. The Jessica Simpsons seem to be winning and I couldn't agree more! They ARE fabulous!!! I'll let you know when I get these Together boots listed. I've just given up on booties, COMPLETELY! Amazing how something can look so fabulous on one person and hideous on another! I gave it my best shot! :)

    1. I know what you mean. A good friend of mine is an 11 and so she's in the same predicament. HOWEVER, the great thing about that is that when you DO find something, there's less of a rush for it. I see great size 9 - 11 shoes often and it seems like they just stay on the shelves! Don't give up! Hugs!

  7. Hi Serene!
I love Jessica Simpson boots first, then the nine west platforms. I love shoes, too! You can never have enough, and I totally agree with you about its ability to transform an outfit to another level. I really like your outfit as well!
    Have a great weekend!

  8. This is a cool idea for a post. I read wondering how many pair of shoes you have. I know that my short lace up boots give me fits too. Out of all of them, I think I like the Jessica Simpson boots (photo #9) the best.

  9. The tall boots are the winners for me. I like the Bandolino's best but they all work. The simple black pumps are a nice alternative as well. Call me boring. I prefer classic.

"No" on the booties. I think it is REALLY hard to work them in with a skirt.

  10. I love seeing how the different shoes change the look completely. I am still so far behind in the shoe department -- I try to get along with just a few basic pairs, but this denies me so many possibilities (as your post proves!)I think my favorites are the clogs, the tan 9 West boots, and the thigh-high black boots. Don't make me choose between them!
