Why you need a leather skirt....

Skirt:  Vintage Thrifted, Top:  J Crew, Sweater:  H&M, Boots:  Bandolino

A couple of years ago, a leather skirt was no where in my closet.  I had NONE!  And I didn't know what I was missing!  Now, I can't imagine my sartorial life with no leather skirt....and for me, it simply HAS to be the real thing.  I just can't seem to get as excited about pleather or ultra suede.

You know what's great about suede and leather skirts?

*No ironing needed....anytime you can wear something without having to iron it is just a good start to the day!

*Always the same fit....barring any extreme body changes, your leather skirt will pretty much fit you the same every time you wear it; unlike fabric that seems to modify itself a little with every wearing.

*Wear it year round....Yes!  You read that right!  Why not wear your leather year round?  For this skirt, I could easily do a cute tank and a great heel and I'm out the door!  While leather pants may prove to be a hot box in the warmer months, a leather skirt still allows you to keep the breezeway!

*Makes you look like you stepped up your game....When DOESN'T leather look like your A-game?  Seriously!  Throw on a leather skirt and any top and tres chic!

Every leather skirt I have (I think 5 in all) was thrifted.  To buy a nice leather skirt new may be a bit cost prohibitive, but with so many thrifting options there's no need to mark them off your wish list!

Do you have any leather skirts?  What do YOU love about them?

  6. I have one leather skirt that I've thrifted and I still haven't worn it. I think I might be afraid of leather. lol. I need to suck it up and wear it though. I see this now.

  8. Serene girlfriend! You know I just love the color of that leather!!!!

I have had a few leather skirts in my time, but something about my body shape or the way I sit, would make them stretch out in all the wrong places.....same with leather pants. Love they way they feel, but they would loose their shape on me. Now the way I do leather is in blazers--for INSIDE. A perfect jacket for business casual!

  9. I have never worn a leather skirt. I love how you look in them and the color of this one is just stunning. I did buy a leather skirt at thrift but it is WAY too small. My tiny sister couldn't fit in it. I am going to make some things out of it and use it to trim some things, so it won't be wasted.

  10. I have a suede skirt I wore to my first class of American Literature this semester and you're right, it does look great every time you wear it. And I like the texture it gives an outfit too.

  11. Until I saw you in that Aqua leather skirt, I could take or leave leather bottoms. Right after you put up pictures of it, I got on your Ebay store and checked around for any leather in a bigger size. (You have done a great job of having lots of sizes in your Ebay store, by the way - thank you!) Still looking, but I think that Aqua skirt might be a very special one of a kind beauty. I know that's how you look in it!

I really don't care about followers. That statement for for Dawn who was teasing me about being stuck on 69 for so long. I actually didn't get what she was talking about until later in the evening while washing my face!!!!!!!!
I'm amazed I have 70 to begin with!

  14. Serene - what an awesome find! I love the color of your skirt - SOOOO pretty! You styled it wonderfully too (as usual!) I had a leather skirt when I was in my 20s (black!) and I wore it to the nub..ah, memories... Anyway, I'm not much of a dress/skirt wearer these day though but that look is FABULOUS!

  17. You now a have a new biggest fan! one of my readers sent me this link and I am so glad that he did! What a great sense of style you have!

I currently have three leather skirts. Black (on my current post), caramel & red (just acquired). I also have two suede and two pair of black leather pants. I wear the leather skirts year round but the pants not so much. I do wear the suede skirts but leather is certainly my preference.

Why do I like them, why not? They are fabulous. I have never seen a woman wearing one that didn't immediately make me think, "She looks sharp." In my opinion a leather skirt improves the look of any ensemble.

BTW... LOVE the color of this skirt. Jealous!
