NUETP: The Black Pointy Toe Pump

Never Underestimate the Power of a great pair of black pointy toe heels!

Silk Blouse:  Thrifted, Leather Skirt:  Vintage Thrifted, Black Heels:  Nine West Thrifted

Patti did a great post yesterday on "Out with the drab.  In with the fab!"  in which she explores finding ways to build on great basics to start adding fun to her wardrobe....

"One definite spicy seasoning for me is The Shoe.  And that's fairly recent in my life.  For many decades I stuck with safe choices.  In my corporate years, the nice stacked pump or sling-back.  Simple flats or brown sandals made do for casual hours."

I think my friend is dead on!  And, in my most humble opinion, where better to start than a black pointy toe pump!  There are so many variations of this, with the upside being that you can choose your heel height for maximum comfort.

The black pointy toe is classic, reminiscent of Chanel, and just about goes with EVERYTHING!  When I put on this outfit, I originally had a different shoe....a platform strappy heel that looked great but a bit too va va voom for church!  So I grabbed my standby and POW!  What could easily look a bit funky (and there ain't a THANG wrong with funky!!), went straight to classy.

The beauty of a black pointy toe is that it can be worn with jeans, slacks, skirts, bright prints, white, longer shorts (I'm not really a fan of heals with short shorts), cropped pants.....just about everything!  And it just makes everything look GREAT!

If I had to go on a trip and take only ONE pair of shoes with me, I think it would be these.  I really think it's one shoe that would be at home in any woman's wardrobe!

Take a look a these celebrities and their pointy toe heel looks.  And while you're looking around, head on over to Patti's Visible Monday and take a peek at some gorgeous ladies sporting their very visible looks!

  1. I realized in reading this that I do not own a pair of black pointed toe shoes! I've got lots of black, but just this past week thrifted my first pair of pointed toe shoes--snake skin as a substitute the nude heel that was all the rage LAST year. Slowly getting around to old trends.

  2. I really like that term, NUETP, Serene! You always come up with the best ideas : > And I agree about a pointy toe pump, you can't go wrong. Having said that, I don't own any right now, so I have some work to do. Thanks for linking up! xoxoxoxoxoxo

  4. Oh my you look sexy and gorgeous! I agree with you on the pointy toe pump, plus they are extremely flaterring on the legs, I think they make a woman look sexy without overdoing it. =)
Ponty shoes are my favorite when it comes to pumps.

  5. Black pointy shoes really do glam up an outfit. You look beautiful! It's funny that you did this post. I just thrifted a pair of pointy shoes this weekend, only they're not black. I'm hoping to wear them while on vacation for a formal dinner.

  6. I agree. Pointy toed shoes are a wardrobe staple, and a mid height heel can make them a comfortable option as well.

  9. First: Only you could look so fabulous in a self-taken mirror shot! :)

Now, for the shoes: I don't own a pair of these, either. Black may be too a little severe for my color palate, but I definitely need that one pair of classic shoes that goes with everything and classes up the joint. You are renewing my resolve to keep looking for them!

  10. That's a gorgeous blouse, and I love the colour combination with the turquoise skirt.
I agree that the shoes are a go-with-everything staple, but I'm another one who doesn't own any! I only ever used to wear black shoes, but I have all sorts of colours now, I like something a little unexpected on my feet these days!
Thanks for dropping by my blog and commenting, I appreciate it. xxx

  14. You remind me of a movie star from the 50's or 60's!! So glamorous and sexy!! I love this look and you wear it so very well. I agree with you about the shoes, too. I still love pointy toe shoes, whether they're "in" or not.

  16. Jean at drossintogold pointed me to this post because I'm wearing a pair of pointy-toed black pumps today! You are so right - they really do class up nearly every outfit. Mine don't get a lot of wear (well, they will this month, since they're part of my 30 for 30 capsule), but when I wear them, they're always a shining star in the outfit.

  24. I love the colour of your skirt. The muted tuequoise looks like it would go with so many things. Your point black pumps look great, sadly I can't wear pointy shoes with out a struggle!

  25. Yes, the black pointy toe shoe always looks good. As long as you can get your feet to agree to them, you're onto a winner. Surprisingly, most of these types of shoes are comfortable (in the short term.) No hiking up the Andes in them, but hey, can't have everything.

    Cheers from England,

  26. Serene you look gorgeous in these self-portraits! How do you do that? I always look so bad when I take my own picture. Love your whole look, and speaking of Chanel, please put together a Chanel-inspired outfit, take your picture, and send it to me because Adrienne and I are doing a Chanel party on August 1 and I am hosting! Love how you got the ball rolling with the group, btw, I have been thinking of all you said ever since. XO, Jill
