After the Love is Gone

When I found this blouse on a recent thrifting expedition, I loved it! The front pleats, the pleats on the sleeves, the crystal button. It flirted with me, beckoning to give into it's charms. I didn't think twice. It was fabulous! It all just worked! But then........ I wore it, looked at these pictures and realized, it was all just momentary infatuation. If it had truly been love, I'd still be feeling it and I gotta tell you, I'm not feelin' this blouse at ALL anymore. To Ebay it goes!

Now on the other hand, completely loving the pants and shoes. The heels were my mother's from about 25 years ago. She always loved them and I absolutely loved wearing them! Moral of this whole story: Sometimes you just don't know, till you know! By the way, I don't even recognize myself putting an unflattering picture of myself on the internet. That dear friends, is what we in the south call, GROWTH! My arm hurts from patting myself on the back....

Top......Thrifted ($3.79)

Slacks......Kenar via Thrifted (.75cents ..... you read that right! They started out with a cuff on them which made them just short enough to be high waters. So off came the cuff and now I love them and the fit is perfect!)

Shoes......Vintage via my mother

Is there a better band in all the world?!

  1. white blouses are something I ALWAYS shop for in thrift stores. I like the detail on this one, but often I put blouses like this one back...because I know myself well enough to know that I don't always take the time to care for them properly...I'm pretty insistent that they be BRIGHT white and I often find after I launder them a time or two, even when I iron, that they yellow a bit.

    Admiring the shoes--a LOT!

  2. I'm just adore white blouses, and I really liked the ivoriness of this, but I think if I had tried it on beforehand, I may not have gotten it. But that's the beauty of thrift stores, if you make a mis-step, it really doesn't cost you that much! Thanks for the props to the shoes, they are beautiful, eh? Wondering why I don't wear them more often.

  3. I actually love this blouse on you. The thing with thrifting is sometimes the details on a piece can be great, but when you take it home and put it on, you realise that the fabric is wrong or an armhole is too tight or the blouse is too short. Happens to me all the time - but I'm getting better at spotting potential problems. But $3 isn't an expensive mistake. Love the shoes:) xo

  4. I still like the blouse--beautiful details. What was it that you didn't love?

I am not a white blouse person myself--evrey time I buy one, I never wear it and feel uncomfortable in it when I do! But I have seen how GOOD they can look on other people...
