Dress: Vintage, Thrifted. Belt: Ralph Lauren, gifted. Shoes: Stuart Weitzman, thrifted
Thanks for all the sweet encouraging words that made me feel much better about my daughter going off to college. I gave myself a kick in the pants this morning and gave me a good talking to. It went something like this:
"Serene! Get over yourself already! Your daughter is alive, well and healthy and she is off to college starting her adult life. So stop acting like she fell off the planet and GET HAPPY already!"
And so I did! Well, it IS a work in progress, but I'm actually fine. Fine enough to take over my girl's closet! Yup. That's right. I have commandeered my daughter's room and closet. It helps ease the pain........

I've been thinking about you today and wondering how you are adjusting..they say its harder with girls. I saw both my boys off to college. hey, they come back!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit on you--you look great in black and LOVE THOSE SHADES! :~)
How funny that you are taking over your daughter's closet. Hope it makes it easier. I know what it's like.
ReplyDeleteLove the shoes and is that belt one of the older Ralph Lauren ones? Back in the '80's I tried to save up for one, but got married and had kids instead. Now my waist is too big for one. (Not complaining, just a geometric fact.)
Pretty outfit. The belt goes nicely with those shoes.
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you give yourself talks, Serene! You have a lot of wisdom. You look fab in black! xoxoxo -Patti
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous! Love that belt with the dress. My girls are young but I joke with my husband that we should have spaced them out a little more so that the empty nest wouldn't happen all at once. :)

Your outfit is wonderful. I had three kids taken at the same time. My ex. You never stop worrying about them but it becomes one of the long tracks of background noise eventually. In the meantime, you look too young to have a college kid.
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love black and brown together and really like the belt you put with this dress!
ReplyDeleteSecond...I did post over the weekend because I was dealing with my youngest leaving for college. I am officially an empty nester...it is weird! I want to tell you that when my daughter left for college, she was excited and did not want to think about mom...but it did not take long before she was calling on a regular basis to talk through all of the big moments and decisions that college places before them. Just wait....those calls will start soon. I will have to call my son...boys don't call as much as girls do. My daughter married this summer and moved to the other side of the world, literally, that has been harder than college turned out to be. We need to support one another...when you need a female voice...just let me know!!!
So elegant! You look amazing1
ReplyDeleteThe silhouette of this dress is very flattering on you and I love the belt! I also love that you are making lemonade out of lemons by taking over her closet...thats the spirit! Way to go!
