I have a really really small closet. Because of that, I have had to come up with a new clothes philosophy that makes me feel good about staying pared down to only what fits in said closet. So, my semi new philosophy is this - Only keep what I love. I'm a disciplinarian when it comes to my clothes. If they don't cut the mustard, they are OUTTA THERE! The great thing about this though, is that now, when I open my closet, everything is an option and I love everything. That's not such a small deal. I can't tell you how many times I've gone through my closet and couldn't find a thing to wear. Either something didn't fit, or it didn't look good on, or I thought it was better than nothing....there was always some reason to keep something in my closet that I had not worn in forever. So! I decided, if it is too small...GONE! I'm not letting my clothes silently insult me. If I can't put it on and love it....GONE! I settle for nothing less than true love. Now, my closet and I have a much better relationship. Recently, I cleaned it out. You're about to go into the inner sanctum, the secret chamber if you will. What you see here is not to be repeated or shared. The door opens slowly with a menacing CRRREEAAAKKKK and slowly the hangers come into view....

Now, I have to be honest. I did this a few weeks ago. And right now, if you were to look in my closet, it looks more like the before again! But at least for one brief but pristine moment; my closet was organinzed. Oh well, it's my house, right?!

Oh wow good on you and well done on doing such a good job. Cleaning out ones closet is not a task any woman takes lightly so I can imagine how it must have been both an agonising and joyful project. Your closet is so well-organised:). xo
ReplyDeleteI am like you; I regularly clean my closet out--not to be clean but to be organized and to make sure I am wearing all! I have a project to add shelves on the horizon, but it is still working the way it is so I don't know if I'll get to it. As soon as it starts to get crowded-its time to purge!
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy how much I love blog posts about closets! Yours looks much better after the reorganization! I decided to move everything I wasn't wearing in the month of October to another closet. It greatly simplifies my mornings. And, it lets the clothes breathe too.
